the circle of life

The circle of life... Yesterday, 250 chicks just a day old settled into our care. Watching their excitement as they run, scratch, peck, and drink for the first time never gets old. Today, we took 100 lives away. It’s something we and our children don’t take lightly. Some of these lives even had names to remember them by-Tecumseh and Nicodemus for example. Hopefully our children are learning important lessons about sacrifice, responsibility, stewardship, purpose-life in general. We’re grateful for our time with these creatures God has given us dominion over. Hopefully we can look back on the life that we gave them, and took from them, and smile knowing that it was full of sunshine, grass, dirt, bugs, worms, and even companionship-with both creature and man. Much more than just food. Way more. I hope all of you experience days like today-at least on occasion.

Happy, healthy chicks!

Our next batch of 200 broilers is doing great! These chicks are happy, healthy, and very active. We can’t wait to get them out on pasture and watch them grow!
